Introduction. (James 5:7,8). Note the phrase “until the coming of the Lord.” This morning for a few moments we are going to consider a few things that the Bible says a person should do, until the coming of the Lord.
I. Be patient. (James 5:7,8).
II. Establish your heart. (James 5:8). Gr. sterizo - “1) to make stable, place firmly, set fast, fix; 2) to strengthen, make firm; 3) to render constant, confirm, one’s mind”
III. Look for the day of the Lord. (II Peter 3:10-12).
IV. Hasten the day of the Lord. speudo - “desire eagerly”
V. Proclaim the Lord’s death. (I Corinthians 11:23-26).
VI. Allow the good work of God to become complete. (Philippians 1:3-10).
VII. Be sincere. (Philippians 1:10). heilikrines from heile (the sun’s ray) “1) pure, sincere, unsullied; 2) found pure when unfolded and examined by the sun’s light”
VIII. Without offense. (Philippians 1:10). “1) having nothing to strike against, not causing to stumble; 1a) of a smooth road; 1b) metaph. of not leading others to sin by one’s mode of life”
IX. Judge nothing. (I Corinthians 4:2-5).
X. Keep his commandments. (I Timothy 6:13,14).
XI. Commit our souls to the Lord. (II Timothy 1:12).
