The Strong Church
Ephesians 6:10,11
Introduction. This morning I’d like for
us to consider for a few moments what is necessary for there to a strong
church and what is not necessary.
What makes a church strong?
I. Not...
- Large numbers. (Deuteronomy 7:6-8; Matthew 7:13,14).
- Riches. (James 2:5; 5:1-5; I Timothy 6:9,10; Revelation 3:15-18).
- Worldly wisdom. (I Corinthians 1:19-21; James 3:13-18).
- Social class. (I Corinthians 1:26,27; Mark 12:37).
II. What makes a church strong is...
- Members who are truly converted to Christ. (Matthew 18:1-3;
John 3:3-5; Colossians 3:1,2).
- Members “rich in faith.” (Matthew 6:19-21; I Timothy 6:17-19; Romans
4:20,21).
- Members wise in the word of God. (John 8:31,32; Ephesians 5:17;
II Timothy 3:14,15).
- Members willing to work. (Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 2:12,13; I
Corinthians 15:58).
