Hoping for the Powerball?
I. Should A Christian Participate in
the Lottery?
- It is poor stewardship.
- We are to act as stewards of God’s gifts.
(I Peter 4:10,11; Matthew 25:14-30)
- We are to earn money to help others. (Ephesians 4:28)
- We are to provide for our own. (I Tim. 5:8)
- It is addictive by nature.
- Christians should not be captivated by other things.
(Romans 6:16,17; Matthew 6:24)
- We should be addicted to good works.
(I Corinthians 16:15)
- It relies on other people’s pain and loss.
- We are our brother’s keeper. (Gen.4:9)
- We must seek the good of others. ( I Corinthians 10:24;
Philippians 2:4)
- It demonstrates a love for money. (I Tim. 6:6-10)
II. Why Put So Much Hope in A Remote Possibility?
Why not devote that effort to another possibility? The
chance that·
- There is a God in heaven. (Isaiah 45:18)
- That He has spoken to us through His word. (Hebrews
4:12,13)
- That He sent Jesus to die for us. (Romans 5:8)
- That One Day He will Judge the world. (Acts 17:30,31)
- That We Can Live With Him eternally or be condemned to an
eternal hell. (Rom. 2:5-10)
